The Rise of Cobra is not your grandfather's G.I. Joe. It's more like C.G.I. Joe with explosive special-effects action sequences that provide the film with a surplus of "Boom Boom Pow" (to quote the Black Eyed Peas song that drives the end credits). This blast from the summer past is very much like the metal-munching nano-mite missiles a (literally)[Read More]

At a time when too many animated films consist of anthropomorphized animals cracking sitcom one-liners and flatulence jokes, the warmth, originality, humor, and unflagging imagination of Up feel as welcome as rain in a desert. Carl Fredericksen (voice by Ed Asner) ranks among the most unlikely heroes in recent animation history. A 78- year-old curm[Read More]

J.J. Abrams' 2009 feature film was billed as "not your father's Star Trek," but your father will probably love it anyway. And what's not to love? It has enough action, emotional impact, humor, and sheer fun for any moviegoer, and Trekkers will enjoy plenty of insider references and a cast that seems ideally suited to portray the characters we know [Read More]

The Dark Knight arrives with tremendous hype (best superhero movie ever? posthumous Oscar for Heath Ledger?), and incredibly, it lives up to all of it. But calling it the best superhero movie ever seems like faint praise, since part of what makes the movie great--in addition to pitch-perfect casting, outstanding writing, and a compelling vision--is[Read More]

Standalone Copier

Standalone Copier
Is it possible to connect a standalone copier to the computer so it can be used as a scanner?

What son connection might be necessary? Is not modern copiers have the ability to scan because it can store images in its memory so it is only question of finding a way to access the memory. The copier I am particularly interested in Canon GP405.

Technically, I am sure that it is possible if the copier has a kind of output port. If no port (which is likely to May), you're out of luck. If it is a port, you would still need some sort of software on the computer to control the scanner in the copier, or at least receive and interpret the bitstream as it comes in. Since you can buy a scanner for less than $ 100 (including cables and software), I do not think it would be profitable to do it yourself. The only other suggestion would be to search the website of the copier and see if they have that option available.
